You will find yourself someday entranced by melody that comes from some unknown place. The sound is both beautiful and strange, evolving and hauntingly addictive. Follow it, follow it down and across and through the hanging mists, through swaying trees, and finally into a labrynthian maze of color, thought, and tone. There, at the end, you will find a lone figure- part artist, part scientist- shrouded by light and surrounded on all sides by machinery, searching for that elusive combination of voices that will, once realized, rid the world of all that is not hope and light….
Piano player, producer, composer and electronic wizard Matt Stanfield began his career working on remixes for the grammy-winning band Jars Of Clay. Shortly thereafter, he joined the band Plumb, having met them whilst working on their first release. He toured with Plumb for two years, also writing and playing on their second studio project, “candycoatedwaterdrops”.
In 1999, Matt married, completed his degree and began honing his studio craft. Early work with Jill Phillips on her “God And Money” record quickly established him as a reputable producer; he continued to work with Phillips, producing her next two projects. He has worked since as a producer for Alathea, The Swift, Daniel Kirkley and Jamie Jamgochian.
Recognised as a forward-thinking piano and keys player, programmer and composer, Matt is also an in-demand session musician. His signature blending of acoustic instruments and electronic processes can be heard in tracks from artists including Meghan Kabir, Stephen Duopolous, Derek Webb, Rush Of Fools, Mandisa, Ellis Paul and Velez.
In 2008 Matt began shifting towards those projects which would give more artistic freedom and satisfy his love of electronic and ambient music. He started Tactus Cartel, an electronic music collective, and began working on soundtracks and short scores. In addition to his work as a producer and musician, he is working on music for film, tv, and video games, and also working on a solo ambient project to be released early 2010.
